Thought for the Week

If you suddenly had to reduce your working hours by 50%, which 3 core activities would you protect at all costs?

Once you've identified them, add them as time blocks to your calendar if they aren't there already.
I always value feedback & questions. Write to me at [email protected].

This Week's Insights🎙️

Most people don’t need more time; they need better priorities.

Always being busy with something has become the norm, such that any moment we get with ourselves leads to a desperate attempt to redirect our energy into some form interaction or engagement, even if it wastes our time.

As a result, we are always "busy" (even if we aren't). However, if we think about those running multi-million pound companies, or managing a portfolio of hundred and thousands of businesses, they must be busy too, right? Yet they have the same 24 hours in a day that we have.

It's because they've understood and mastered something that most people take a lifetime to figure out: effective time management isn’t about filling every minute with work; it's about focusing on the right tasks at the right time.

Yes, there are different techniques like Time Blocking (scheduling deep work sessions) and the Eisenhower Matrix (prioritising tasks based on urgency vs. importance) that can help improve time management, but these techniques are of no use if not practiced consistently over a long period of time.

Build a goal to design your days so that you control your schedule instead of letting your schedule control you.

Practical Tips ✅

  1. Apply the 80/20 Rule: 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts. Identify and double down on what truly moves the needle.

  2. Use the Pomodoro Technique: Work in focused sprints with short breaks to maintain productivity and avoid burnout.

  3. Batch Similar Tasks Together: Instead of switching between tasks, group similar activities (emails, meetings, deep work) to reduce fatigue.
