After a while, this week I took out some time to improve upon my own landing pages that I built over a year ago and I realised I had done exactly what I try to avoid: overcomplication.

I tried to put a mix of fancy designs, lots of text to convince the user to scroll further and fill out the form, and a combination of all sorts of colours to avoid making it look boring. In reality however, all I had done was confuse not only the user but myself!

So, I re-did each page with a simple focus on the pain points my ideal customer was facing, how I can help alleviate those pain points, and what credibility or experience I had. Design was brought down to simple, earthy tones with a few bright splashes to get the attention of the user when needed. That's it.

It made me remember, that ultimately, your landing page is often the first touchpoint in your marketing funnel. If it’s not built strategically, it's where leads can silently slip away.

Always combine simplicity with intention. Every headline, image, form, CTA etc., should serve 1 purpose: guide the visitor to take action.


Practical Tips ✅

  1. Limit Distractions: Remove menu bars, unnecessary links, or anything that doesn’t support the goal of conversion.

  2. Use Social Proof: Add testimonials or trust badges to reduce uncertainty and build trust instantly.

  3. Write with Clarity: Your headline should speak to a pain point or benefit that your ideal customer persona will feel or witness.
